Will my rear defroster cause my window film to bubble?
  • NO. Some people see cars on the road with their rear window tint all bubbled up. This is not due to the rear defroster, this is instead because those cars you see are usually cars that the window film is at the end of it's life span. Usually back windows are the first to wear out because they take on more direct sunlight because of their angle compared to the side windows. The sides tend to follow the back window wearing out by about one year or so. All window films will eventually wear out just like anything else. Better films last longer then cheaper films do. You're better off however if the tint takes all the abuse rather then your car's interior.

Will removing window film from my car ruin my rear window defroster?
  • Usually there aren't many problems with defrosters and auto window film removals if good quality film had been used previously. The problems occur when someone's window film deteriorates, gets bubbled, and it is then left in that state on the vehicle for a couple of summers. The film then tends to become "sun baked". In these conditions the window film becomes brittle and usually has to be scraped with a razor thus sometimes damaging defroster lines. Keep in mind that people usually have their window tint repaired when it first starts to look worn from the sun's effects. These cars usually never have defroster problems associated with film removal.

How long does window tint last?
  • It depends on the quality of the film itself, better films last longer then their cheaper counter part, however good tint can last close to a decade.

How do I take care of my window film?
  • Firstly don't allow the window to become overly dirty. Clean your window film with mild soap and water on the inside and how you normally would on the outside. Do not use harsh cleaners such as Windex or other ammonia based cleaners, their use on any window films out there will shorten the life span of the window film.

Will metallic tint harm my back window?
  • NO. Some people think that the metal in certain window films will short out their defroster, this is simply not the case. The metal is actually inside the tint so no harm can be done, however, if you have an antenna embedded in your back window, metallic films can block AM radio reception.
